Tikkurila Helmi Primer is a high-performance water-based acrylic primer, professionally tinted to your chosen colour using our paint mixing and colour match service. Developed specifically for interior woodwork and furniture, it provides excellent adhesion, opacity and surface preparation before applying water-based finishing coats.
Ideal for both new and previously painted timber surfaces, Helmi Primer creates a smooth, durable base that enhances topcoat coverage and helps achieve a professional finish. Its low-odour, low-emission formulation makes it suitable for use in homes, schools and commercial interiors, including children's furniture and toys.

Suitable surfaces
Helmi Primer is suitable for interior wooden surfaces, MDF, chipboard, wood fibreboard and selected metal surfaces. It can also be used on previously painted surfaces coated with alkyd or acid-curing paints, making it an excellent choice for furniture refurbishment and joinery projects.
